چکیده
Experimental setups using two-arm and o 60 four-arm prolate-spheroidal IRAs are used to obtain better focusing for a prolate-spheroidal IRA and these results are compared with analytical results in [1] for comparison. This paper presents a summary of the experimental setup and the dimensions of these experiments are based on [1, 2]. These setups were motivated by a biological application [3]. This work was sponsored in part by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

In this note we begin the development of two types of Impulse Radiating Antenna (IRA). o These two designs include a 23 cm diameter reflector IR4, with an F/D of0.38, and a solid dielectric-lens IIU4, or dielectric-immersed lens IIU. This latter design is a Transverse Electromagnetic (TEM) horn immersed in a dielectric, with a prolate spheroidal lens interface to air. The reflector IR4 consists...
متن کاملEffect of Defocusing on the Prompt Response of an IRA: I. Hyperboloidal Reflector
Abstract The reflector on an impulse radiating antennas (IRAs) is normally designed to be paraboloidal in shape, and are oriented so that the electrical feed point of the TEM feed line coincides with the focal point of the paraboloid. In many practical cases, the feed point and focal points are not exactly aligned, producing some defocus of the reflector. There are two types of defocus that can...
متن کاملSelection of Ideal Feed profile for Asymptotic Conical Dipole Fed Impulse Radiating Antenna
Abstract— Equivalent charge method is used to design ultra wide band asymptotic conical dipole (ACD) antenna. Combination of linear charge density and point charges is used to generate different profiles for ACD antennas. Two different profiles of ACD antenna are used as a feed for reflector based impulse-radiating antennas (IRAs). This paper focuses on the selection of ideal ACD profile as wel...
متن کاملAnalysis of the Impulse Radiating Antenna Everett
One form of Impulse Radiating Antenna (IRA) combines the technologies of the Balanced Transmission-line Wave (BTW) sensor with TEM-fed paraboloidal reflector antennas. The behavior of the IRA was calculated using a combination of the Method of Moments, using the NEC Code, and Geometrical Optics. The results of NEC compare favorably to both high and low frequency asymptotes. The frequency domain...
متن کاملExperimental Studies of Scale - Model and Full - Scale IRAs Mounted on Parachutes
We investigate here a number of variations of the Para-IRA, which is an Impulse Radiating Antenna configured for parachute delivery. We consider first two scale models of the Para-IRA with aluminum reflectors, and then we consider a full-scale version built from fabric. In the scale models, we first investigate the effect of using a large F/D ratio in an IRA. We then investigate the effect of u...
